Urban blight http://wesa.fm en Bill to Create Registry of Abandoned Properties in Pittsburgh Advances http://wesa.fm/post/bill-create-registry-abandoned-properties-pittsburgh-advances <p>A bill to create a registry of abandoned properties in the city of Pittsburgh received preliminary approval in City Council Wednesday and is expected to receive final approval next week.</p><p>Councilman Daniel Lavelle introduced the legislation in July and said there are more than 400 foreclosed, bank-owned properties in the city.</p><p>“It’s really an attempt to make sure that properties that have been foreclosed on and are now abandoned by banks are maintained to a set of standards in accordance with the city code, so that they don’t become a drag on the neighborhood,” Lavelle said.</p> Wed, 18 Sep 2013 20:50:23 +0000 Liz Reid 16761 at http://wesa.fm
