Adjustments Coming To Port Authority Bus Routes

While no major overhauls are in the works, the Port Authority of Allegheny County is planning to alter some bus routes.

Beginning March 17, approximately 35 routes will be tweaked. Heather Pharo, spokesperson for the Port Authority, said the changes are for a variety of reasons including overcrowding along some routes.

“For instance on the 67 Monroeville route, we have some short trips added on weekday mornings that come from Wilkinsburg into downtown, whereas the full length of the 67 route starts in Monroeville,” she said. “So these short trips, we hope, will help some of the overcrowding and pass-ups that we’ve had along Wilkins Avenue.”

Pharo said the changes are a relatively common occurrence throughout the year.

“Well [the] Port Authority routinely adjusts schedules four times a year,” Pharo said. “We adjust schedules based on feedback from operators, riders, and also data we collect on the performance of our routes.”

Pharo added while the adjustments are minor, riders should check the new schedules as arrival times for some routes have changed.
