Annual Career Week Focuses On Pathways To Regional Jobs

The Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board (TRWIB) is holding its 6th annual "Imagine! Career Week," which involves job-related programs for people of all ages in the Pittsburgh region from April 26th to May 4th.

Micah Frankenfield, youth manager for TRWIB, says workshops and programs throughout career week are particularly important for young people.

"It really provides an opportunity for youth to explore the wide range of career pathways here in the Pittsburgh region," Frankenfield said. "It really allows these youth to see what is available to them and really retain that interest."

More than 6,000 participants were involved in last year's programs, and he expects even more this year.

"[Imagine! Career Week] takes a unique approach to career exploration and really focuses on providing participants with something beyond their basic learning experiences about jobs that are in demand," Frankenfield said.

The goal of the week is to provide an understanding of the range of career pathways in the Pittsburgh area and to prepare all those who participate for jobs through things like mock interviews, career fairs, and workshops.
