The Business of Breakfast (Why It's The Most Important Meal)

Breakfast is, as the saying goes, "the most important meal of the day," and businesses are really catching on.

Taco Bell has recently begun to offer breakfast choices, joining a long list of restaurants that seek to help you start your day in a tasty, if not exactly healthy way.

Business contributor, Rebecca Harris has some statistics that may make you, and food businesses, think twice about skipping breakfast.

“Breakfast accounted for nearly 60% of the restaurant industry’s traffic growth over the past 5 years. It’s really made a difference in restaurants overall, because the other day parts, which are lunch and dinner, are falling a little bit more than breakfast.”

She also recommended some great Pittsburgh breakfast places.

“We have to start with Pamela’s Diner, which is a prominent diner in Pittsburgh. Their specialties of course are, you know, crepes. Their crepe style pancakes are really our treasure… you can’t forget DeLuca’s Restaurant, which is in the Strip District … an endless menu of so many things.”
