U.S. Senate: Casey defeats Smith.
Democratic incumbent Bob Casey has fended off a challenge from Republican nominee Tom Smith, founder of the Armstrong County Tea Party and former owner of a coal company.
With 96% of 9,257 precincts reporting:
Casey: 2,750,042 or 54%
Smith: 2,255,003 or 44.3%
U.S. House
Elections were held today in Pennsylvania for all 18 seats in the U.S. House. The commonwealth lost one seat due to reapportionment following the 2010 Census.
District 12 Rothfus beats Critz

Democratic incumbent Mark Critz conceded to his Republican challenger Keith Rothfus, a lawyer from Sewickley, in the most hotly contested U.S. House race in Western Pennsylvania.
Mark Critz: 155,178 or 48.6%
Keith Rothfus: 164,336 or 51.4%
District 18 Murphy defeats Maggi

Democratic challenger Larry Maggi has conceded defeat to five term Congressman Tim Murphy.
Larry Maggi: 101,329 votes 36.9%
Tim Murphy: 173,418 votes or 63.1%
The 18th district includes Pittsburgh's South Hills, Washington and Greensburg.
District 14: Doyle vs Lessmann

With 90% of the precincts reporting, incumbent Mike Doyle has defeated Republican challenger Hans Lessmann. Doyle has won a 10th two year term in the House.
Doyle: 231,696 or 77%
Lessmann: 57,749 or 22.5%
District 3: Incumbent Kelly heading for a win over Eaton

Eaton: 86,437 or 41%
To the north of Pittsburgh, starting in the Butler area and stretching to Erie is the redrawn 3rd district where freshman Republican Congressman Mike Kelly is seeking a second term. His Democratic challenger Missa Eaton from Sharon, Mercer County, is an assistant professor of psychology at Penn State-Shenango. Also on the ballot running as an independent is Steven Porter, of Wattburg in Erie County, who is a retired teacher and composer.
District 9: Shuster lead widens over Ramsburg

Ramsburg: 68,331 votes or 39.4%
Shuster: 105,163 votes or 60.6%
The redrawn 9th district makes its way west from Fulton County to Fayette, Washington and Greene Counties and to the west northwest to Indiana County. Republican incumbent Bill Shuster from Hollidaysburg, Blair County has held the seat since May 2001. The Democratic nominee is Karen Ramsburg, a registered nurse from Mercersburg.
