Comedy + Whiskey + Zombies = A Good Time: Social Club Aug. 28

Baby showers go on forever. “Diaper Parties” (what?) are boring. So let’s go out this weekend.

Pittsburgh Comedy Festival starts August 27th and runs through the 29th.  Laughter is good for the soul so come on down to the Henry Heymann Theater in Oakland to enjoy comedy from local comics and national comics. Todd Glass, who has appeared on “Last Comic Standing” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”will be there (27th and 28th), Bombardo, Audrey Plaza’s (“Parks and Recreation”) female improve group will perform Friday night.

Also on Friday is Wigle Whiskey’s Straight Whiskey Batch #1. This event, which is three years in the making, will feature the first batch of Organic Straight Monongahela Rye Whiskey and Organic Straight Allegheny Wheat Whiskey. This event is sponsored by Table Magazine and supports the Persad Center. Burgh Bites food truck will be there along with Leona’s Ice Cream Sandwiches.  As if that isn’t enough, there will also be lots of live music and activities. This event will be at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse.

The Second City comedy group will be performing with the Pittsburgh Public Theater this Friday and Saturday. The Second City has brought you some of your favorite comedy stars, so come and see and you might just see the future stars of tomorrow!

The 19th Annual Art Festival on Walnut Street is happening August 29th &30th in Shadyside. Check out tons of art, sidewalk sales and of course food. This arts festival is brought to you by American Craft Endeavors.

Saturday will be the 2nd Annual Zombie Cocktail Party, held under the 31st Street Bridge. This event, brought to you by Maggie’s Farm Rum, will coincide with the release of their “Queen’s Share Double Barrel Rum,” awarded Best-In-Class Rum at the 2015 American Craft Spirits Association annual spirits competition. There will be food, live bands, beer, and of course, zombies. Dress as a zombie and come on down.
