Read and listen to a story about Ella Horvat as part of a series honoring the individuals who make a difference in people’s lives: 90.5 WESA Celebrates People Making a Difference.

Eleven-year old Ella Horvat is a sixth grader at Dorseyville Middle School. She was born in Guatemala and was adopted by her American parents, Jill and Michael, at the age of two.

Ella began collecting shoes from family and friends, and she estimates that she has collected about 200 pairs this past year. Her mom contacted a local church that does mission trips to Guatemala, and they have delivered the shoes to the orphanages where Ella is from. Ella continues to collect shoes from anyone and everyone and hopes to send to many orphanages in Guatemala.
