Freed: 1,991,913

Kane: 2,774,073

Democrat Kathleen Kane, a former Lacakawanna County assistant DA, was declared the winner by the Associated Press with 57 percent of the vote.

Republican David Freed, the Cumberland County DA, garnered 40.8 per cent, with Libertarian Marakay Rogers receiving only 2.3 percent.

The incumbent Linda Kelly is not running for a full four-year term as Pennsylvania's top law enforcement officer. She was appointed to serve out the last two years of the term of Tom Corbett who resigned the post after being elected as governor.

Since the attorney general's post became an elected office in 1980, Republicans have won every contest. Kane broke that GOP winning streak tonight.
