More Land For Sewickley Heights Park

The Borough of Sewickley Heights has an additional 58 acres of common green space.

The undeveloped land, which is surrounded by Sewickley Heights Park had been privately owned but used as communal green space for years.

“For many years people thought that this property was part of our borough park when it fact it wasn’t, it was private property,” said Sewickley Heights Mayor John C. Oliver.

The land was purchased using a $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and $500,000 raised through local fundraising efforts. Now that it's been acquired by the borough, it's officially open to the public.

The park is now 1,058 acres.

“It’ll just be used for outdoor recreation and enjoyment by the people here and in the valley,” Oliver said.
