More Of Wolf's Cabinet Nominees Get Confirmed By Senate

More of Gov. Tom Wolf's Cabinet members are removing the word "acting" from their title.

The Senate on Tuesday unanimously confirmed Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas, Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Dunn and Banking and Securities Secretary Robin Wiessmann.

It voted 31-18 to confirm State Secretary Pedro Cortes.

Some Republicans protested Cortes' prior service in the job under former Gov. Ed Rendell when regulatory boards in the State Department allegedly failed to investigate complaints about a Philadelphia abortion clinic whose ex-owner is in prison for killing babies born alive during illegal abortions.

Meanwhile, the nominations of Acting Environmental Protection Secretary John Quigley and Acting Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller advanced through committees. Quigley's nomination didn't get the committee's recommendation.

That makes 13 confirmations. Seven others await confirmation votes or hearings.
