Pittsburghers Tell Port Authority CEO How to Improve Transit
What needs to be done to improve the region’s public transit? That’s the question Port Authority of Allegheny County posed to the public through a survey, and the first round of results are in.
Port Authority CEO Ellen McLean said the results were revealing.
“They want a lot of things, a lot of things that we have in the pipeline right now. They want real-time, they want to be able to know if there's something wrong with their bus (through signage at stations), they want more service, they want the ability to have input which we have been trying to do a lot more of than we did in the past. They want better service. That's what our goal is, to improve the service.”
One renovation in the works is a new GPS system for buses. They will be synchronizes with electronic signs at stations, detailing arrival times and delays.
There's still time to answer the online survey.
