PSU Memo Details Response

Internal Penn State memos sent out two weeks after former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with child molestation show the university's president and trustees working to repair a tarnished image and bracing for a potential donor backlash.

Three of the four memos obtained this week by The Associated Press were sent by Rodney Erickson after he was named president following the ouster of Graham Spanier.

Erickson describes for the school's trustees how the child sex-abuse scandal is trending on the Internet. He also discusses how fundraisers were told to handle donors, including a policy of no refunds.

Two trustees said they plan to address breaches in the confidentiality of discussions. They also announced that dealings with Erickson would be done by the executive committee, rather than the entire 47-person board.
