Robert Morris Announces New President

Robert Morris University is getting a new president from Virginia.

Trustees have announced Christopher Howard will become the school's eighth president Feb. 1. He has served as president of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia since 2009.

Howard, 46, will move from a small, single-sex liberal arts college with an enrollment of about 1,000 to Robert Morris and its roughly 5,350 students.

The Plano, Texas, native attended the Air Force Academy as an undergraduate. He earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and a doctorate in politics from Oxford University in England while on a Rhodes Scholarship.

Howard was also awarded a Bronze Star for military service in Afghanistan.
