Socialist, Immigrant Groups Plan May Day Events, Marches

Socialists, immigration advocates and others are planning May Day demonstrations across the state.

Organizers including Make the Road Action in PA say hundreds of immigrants will protest Trump Administration immigration policies at Pennsylvania's capitol.

Similar groups are planning two marches in Pittsburgh, including one starting at the City-County Building's steps at 2 p.m.

Temple University students led by Philadelphia Socialist Alternative, Temple Socialists and various activist groups also plan a walkout and will demand the campus be declared a sanctuary for immigrants.

Philadelphia's Center City District is alerting the media, police and businesses that a protest and march are planned beginning at noon at City Hall.

In Reading, which has a large Hispanic population, a march is planned and more than 100 Hispanic-owned businesses planned to close Monday.
