Ever wondered which one of Pennsylvania’s 170+ wineries is nearest to you? Have you ever traveled to another county and found yourself wondering where you’ll get your next wine fix? Now you don’t have to with the Pennsylvania Winery Association’s new mobile website.
The association hopes it’s new website, logo, and tagline this (“Keep Tasting”) will get more people out for the fall wine season.
Jennifer Eckinger, executive director of the association, said the industry has been evolving quickly.
“We’ve grown exponentially. Over the past ten years we’ve more than doubled the number of wineries that we have here in the state of Pennsylvania,” said Eckinger. “Our mobile website is just a further affirmation of how times are changing.”
Eckinger said, no matter where you are in the state, you’re always within a 45-minute drive of a winery or wine trail.
The state’s 12 wine trails stretch from the Lake Erie wine country to Bucks County and often hold events that allow visitors to walk and learn about a particular region.
Eckinger said the website makes it easier for tourists to plan their trips to Pennsylvania.
“We’re actually seeing a lot of in-state visitors, but we so see many out-of-state visitors, especially along the borders,” said Eckinger. “It’s not uncommon in the Lehigh Valley area to see New Jersey and New York license plates.”
Eckinger said Western Pennsylvania wineries see a lot of visitors from Ohio and West Virginia during the fall.
