It seems Cleveland’s efforts to shed the image of “the mistake on the lake” are paying off. LeBron James has returned to the Cavaliers, the latest Captain America adventure was filmed in the city and the GOP has selected it for the next Republican convention. With the Steelers set to play the Browns, travel contributor Elaine Labalme takes another look at Cleveland.
Labalme says that Cleveland has a great food scene, plenty of cool neighborhoods and renowned breweries. No trip to Cleveland would be complete without a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Labalme explains, and football fans will enjoy the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton -- about an hour south. Other highlights of a trip to Northeast Ohio might include a dinner at Town Hall in Ohio City or an overnight stay at the Metropolitan at the 9. Because it’s only about two hours away from Pittsburgh, Cleveland makes for a great weekend getaway, Labalme says.
