Pittsburgh may be known as the city of bridges, but it also holds many different conventions.

The reason for the popularity of Pittsburgh for conventions comes down to accessibility, maximum capacity, pricing, availability, and external attractions according to business contributor Rebecca Harris.

Pittsburgh is extremely accessible due to the fact that it's within an hour and a half drive or flight from 70% of northern United States. The Steel City's affordability also makes conventions here more appealing than Boston and New York City.

The most common types of conventions are National and International, sporting event conventions, religious conventions, corporate conventions, and government meetings. But one of the most noteworthy conventions, occurring in Pittsburgh for eight consecutive years is Anthrocon, also known as the Furry Convention.
