Penn State Master Gardeners, as partners with the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, have been working in Point State Park refurbishing the historic flower beds put in on Earth Day.

County Health and Public Works Departments Join Allegheny Alerts

Allegheny County is making it easier to avoid road construction and get vaccinations now that its notification program has expanded to the Public Works and Health departments.

Allegheny Alerts is a program that will call, text, or email people who sign up about the four departments involved. The program began in April with the Parks Department and the Kane Regional Centers.

How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in the Pittsburgh Region

If the needles are falling and you're getting ready to take down the Christmas tree, city and county officials are hoping you'll recycle it and not just leave it at your curbside.

The city of Pittsburgh's Recycling Division and Allegheny County's Department of Parks are again offering  tree recycling programs this holiday season. The trees will be mulched and the county will use the mulch in its nine regional parks.
