This Saturday the First Unitarian Church in Shadyside, the place that opened its doors to Pete Seeger in 1962, is holding a Pete Seeger Tribute concert. On that day Seeger, who passed away in January, would have been 95 years old. Joining us in studio is the tribute's coordinator Ginny Hildebrand and by phone is musician Mike Stout, who has performed with Seeger.

Meals for Marathon Training from Gretchen McKay

The Pittsburgh Marathon happens this weekend. For the thousands of people who have been training for the event, the proper foods can make all the difference in race day performance. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette food writer Gretchen McKay has been training for the 2014 Pittsburgh Marathon and she’s written a series of articles on meal ideas. She talks about nutrition and recipes for getting through the home stretch of training, and even that recovery period after the big race.

The ongoing plight of the August Wilson center continues with some bidders showing interest and others withdrawing. We'll get an update in the ongoing saga of the troubled arts center from City Paper reporter Rebecca Nuttall.

Dance Africa, Promoting Cultural Heritage Through Dance

Thirty-seven years ago choreographer Charles Davis founded Dance Africa in New York City. The festival of dance based in African cultures has since become the largest celebration of African Dance in the country. The festival is in Pittsburgh at the August Wilson Center for its third year, in collaboration with the Legacy Arts project, where Pittsburghers can learn the artistic traditions of the African Diaspora. Erin Perry, the Executive Director of the Legacy Arts Project joins us along with Dr. Davis to talk about the proliferation of African heritage through dance.

Ghost Signs of Pittsburgh

The ghost signs of Pittsburgh are a reminder of the city’s past. They can be found on buildings throughout the region. Our guests, Kelly Bogel and Will Zavala celebrate the palimpsests of Pittsburgh in an exhibit currently on display at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers gallery space.

Marriage Equality

There may not be a trial to decide whether the state's same-sex marriage ban is constitutional. The plaintiffs argued the state isn't disputing their facts and hasn't identified an expert witness, so a judge can toss the ban out without a trial, according to Vic Walczak, legal director of the ACLU of PA and one of the lead attorneys for the plaintiffs.

Former Pittsburgh Pirate Dick Groat

As the 1960 World Series exhibit continues at the Heinz History Center, we'll talk with former Pirates shortstop Dick Groat who was the National League's Most Valuable Player during that memorable season. Much of his memorabilia including his jersey worn that season is included in the exhibit. At one point in his career, Groat played in both the NBA and the Major Leagues and was an all-american basketball player at Duke University.

New Girl Visits Nashville

Nine hours away from the Steel City is the musical city of Nashville. However, there’s more to the state capital of Tennessee than country music. This week travel contributor Elaine Labalme tells us how to the get the most out of a visit to Music City.
