Summer, Summer, Summertime. Time To Sit Back And Unwind: Social Club May 27

Memorial Day weekend is here and that means it is officially the start of summer. The city pools are open and it is time to fire up the grill.  WESA’s Sarah and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to fill you in on all your swimming and BBQ needs this weekend.

It’s going to be hot and muggy this weekend so you are going to want to take a dip in the pool. One suggestion is the Dormont swimming pool. It goes up to eleven feet, has a slide and you can bring your floating apparatuses. It is also the third largest pool in the state.

All that swimming in Dormont make you hungry? Swing by Pittsburgh BBQ Company for some yummy eats!

Looking for another pool? Check out the Oliver Bath House. Afterwards, head on over to South Side BBQ Company. So good.

Want your BBQ mixed with Mexican? Smoke BBQ Taqueria in Lawrenceville is where it is at.  Heads up- this place is super busy, so you will probably wait. But trust us, it is worth it.

Want to take your swimming to the extreme? Check out the wave pools, including the South Park Wave Pool and Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool. You can pretend like you are at the beach, minus the salt water.

You know who also has a wave pool? Sandcastle.  They open Saturday. Enjoy the slides, potato patch fries and summer sun! Season passes are offered as well. You can also rent cabanas to enjoy Sandcastle in luxury.

It wouldn’t be summer without a food truck roundup. Bakery Square’s Annual Summer Kick Off is this Friday. Enjoy drinks, music and tons of food trucks. Yum yum yum.

Looking for some drinks to enjoy your holiday weekend with?  This Friday, go down to the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse for the release of Arriba! Tequila Barreled Ginever. A DJ set by Steve Hackman of the PGH Symphony Orchestra FUSE series will be playing. Yes. It’s as amazing as it sounds.

Crafts and Drafts is this Saturday at East End Brewing Company. It’s an outdoor extravaganza featuring food trucks, produce and celebrates the release of the summery Moonstop Berliner Weisse beer. The real question is, will there be puffy paint for the crafts? Go and let us know.

Open Streets PGH continues this Sunday. Starting at 9am the streets downtown will be closed for human-powered, car free fun. Participants can bike, skate, do yoga and more!

Looking for another fun outdoors activity? Kaya Fest is this Sunday in the strip. Head down for music, yoga and fun. It goes all day so the party don’t stop!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We would like to acknowledge and thank those that serve and who we honor this weekend.   Thank you for your service.
