Sidney Holyfield, a program volunteer, said he continues to volunteer because he wants to help Pittsburgh’s youth by showing them that there is more to life than playing on electronics or being in the streets. ";

People could not fish at Carnegie Lake until last summer when the lake was cleaned and oxygenated. It was later stocked with bluegills, largemouth bass and channel catfish. Let’s Go Fishing began offering training at the lake after the restoration. ";

A Let’s Go Fishing volunteer organizes fishing poles.Three weeks ago, two racks of poles, a tent and bait were stolen. Daniel King, another volunteer, said it hurt because it impacts the youth that are coming to learn how to fish. ";

Kids participating in the Opening Doors for Youth & Families summer camp went fishing at Carnegie Lake in Highland Park on Tuesday, July 9.

The Wilkinsburg-based organization took part in the Let’s Go Fishing Program, where volunteers teach Pittsburgh-area young anglers. The kids are also provided with fishing rods, tackles and bait.
