$12 Million In Street Paving Projects All On One Map

City of Pittsburgh

As part of its ongoing effort to make data more accessible to the public, the city of Pittsburgh has created an interactive map using the list of streets scheduled to be repaved this year.

Rather than reading down a long list of streets divided by often confusing intersections, a user can simply zoom in on a neighborhood and click the thoroughfares that are highlighted in grey.

This summer the city plans to repave approximately 44 miles of city maintained streets. The effort comes with a $12.25 million price tag.

The city says it works with its contractors to schedule at times that will have the least impact on traffic and the community. The map will be updated throughout the summer as schedules and plans change.

The Department of Public Works says it uses street condition data from the City’s Pavement Management System, citizen requests through 311 and condition reports from Public Works Street Maintenance Division staff to choose which sections of which streets are repaved.
