Two top editors of the Tribune-Review in Pittsburgh have announced they are retiring, and a third tendered his resignation.

Trib Total Media officials said Monday that executive editor Frank Craig and managing editor Jim Cuddy are stepping down immediately. Deputy managing editor for sports Duke Maas is also leaving.

Craig, 62, became the Tribune-Review editor in 2000. He was previously an assistant managing editor at The Blade in Toledo, Ohio.

Cuddy, 61, joined the newspaper more than 20 years ago. He's been managing editor since 2011.

Maas "resigned to pursue new career opportunities," according to an email sent to staff by Trib President and CEO Jennifer Bertetto.

Luis Fabregas, the paper's 49-year-old deputy managing editor, will take over as editor of the Trib's Pittsburgh edition. He joined the paper in 1997, and has served as reporter, columnist, medical editor and investigative reporter.

Sue McFarland will continue to lead the Trib's Westmoreland edition and will also manage the Valley News Dispatch.

Last month, Trib Total Media announced its second round of buyouts in two years. An additional 200 full- and part-time layoffs followed in December, and the company sold two newspapers, The Daily News of McKeesport and The Valley Independent in Monessen, early this year.

The Associated Press contributed to this report. 90.5 WESA's Megan Harris was a staff reporter for Trib Total Media from 2013 to 2015.
