While Washington remains at a standstill and many national parks have closed their gates, travel contributor Elaine Labalme suggests an alternative trip to the many American state parks. She says autumn is the perfect season to see some beautiful nature only a short drive away!
Presque Isle State Park, Lake Erie – This park has the most beautiful shore and a large, newly renovated observation tower.
Kinzua Bridge State Park – Come see this park in its peak foliage season. Labalme dares you to see the glass overlook on the Kinzua Bridge sky walk.
Leonard Harrison State Park – Here you’ll catch great views of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Plus, you can hike to the bottom of the canyon.
Hyner View State Park – The park overlooks the Susquehanna River and is very popular with hang gliders.
Ohiopyle State Park in Laurel Highlands – Consistently rated as one of the most popular parks in the Commonwealth, check it out for yourself!
