Allegheny County residents can get the antiviral treatment for monkeypox delivered from Hilltop Pharmacy. The new COVID-19 omicron booster is also available at more than 40 locations in the county.

College campuses must prepare for possible monkeypox outbreaks among students.

A student at Penn State University Park has tested positive for the school’s first confirmed case of monkeypox, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and a press release from Penn State on Wednesday.

Access to the monkeypox vaccine is expanding in Allegheny County as there are now several primary care providers that can administer the immunization.

Contact tracing is underway to reach additional people who may have been exposed.

Symptoms of monkeypox can include fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes and a blistery rash. The Pittsburgh case brings the statewide total to five.
