Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said Wednesday that Amazon leaders had not yet requested a formal visit to the city.

An Amazon spokesperson said Wednesday that the company is working with each of remaining 20 cities to “dive deeper on their proposals and share additional information about the company’s plans.”

The spokesperson confirmed that Amazon would visit each location.

The Washington Post reported Monday that Amazon officials toured sites in Washington D.C., Montgomery County, Md., and Northern Virginia last week.

Peduto said he is certain the company leaders have or will visit locations without notifying city officials.

“But I’m sure at some point we will get a call and they’ll tell us they’ll be in,” he said. “And they’ve made it clear they’re not looking for a dog and pony show. They basically want to get the numbers, get the statistics, get what they want to see. They’re not looking for us to entertain them or do anything of that sort.”

Peduto said he had spoken to Amazon employees since Pittsburgh was named a finalist in January. He said the conversations have been “data-driven”.

City and County officials have denied numerous requests to release the proposal to bring HQ2 to Pittsburgh leaving many questions including the potential sites offered for the second headquarters.

Amazon has promised a winning city to expect 50,000 new jobs and a $5 billion investment.
