Uncle Charley’s Sausage President Among those on Missing Plane
An employee at Uncle Charley's Sausage Company in Parks Township says the company's President, Charles Armitage, Jr., was flying from Virginia to Johnstown when the single-engine plane he was in went missing in a remote area of eastern West Virginia.
Although investigators have not officially released the any names, it is believed that Addison House Restaurant co-owner Laura Stettmier was also on the plane. She is the girlfriend of Armitage according to an Uncle Charley's employee.
A FEMA spokesperson said the plane is registered to Wings R Us Inc. of Leechburg, PA.
Air-traffic controllers lost contact with the Piper PA32 Saratoga around 8:45 PM on Sunday. The Civil Air Patrol says the plane's last known position was 12 miles south of the Grant County Airport in Petersburg.
After encountering poor weather conditions, pilot Michael Garrone reportedly tried to return to the Danville, VA airport.
