The Unique Experience Of A Football Placekicker

The life of long-distance football placekicker is unusual.  Although he only gets in for a few plays per game, he has the potential to be the most criticized.  University of Pittsburgh placekicker Chris Blewitt knows this all too well.

“You could say that it’s fair or unfair, but I mean, there are always eleven guys on the field at a time, so everyone’s working together.  Everyone could share and take part and credit for the game.”

NFL owners have voted unanimously to adopt six game minimum suspensions for domestic or sexual violence and other crimes.

The changes come after the NFL was criticized for its handling of alleged off-field violence by high profile players. But will the players go along?

Tougher Competition for the Post-Big East Panthers

This Labor Day marks the beginning of a new era of football for the University of Pittsburgh.

After a storied history as members of the Big East Conference, the Pittsburgh Panthers will face stiff competition in their first game as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Panthers will play against last year’s Orange Bowl champions Florida State, a striking change from the previous year’s opener, Youngstown State. University of Pittsburgh Athletic Director Steve Pederson says although the team faces a tougher battle, playing against competitors like Florida State is in the best interest of the team.
