Life Without Bars: Reintegrating Ex-Offenders Into The Workforce

"We are finding more and more institutions are providing some marketable training that they can use for employment upon their return to society." -Alethia Bush

The 2015 “Life Without Bars” conference works to address the challenges of individuals with criminal backgrounds as they reintegrate into the workforce throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.  The two-day program offers solutions for professionals and individuals in their journey to re-entry. We heard from Southwestern Pennsylvania Re-Entry Coalition (SPARC)  Senior Workforce Development Specialist Samson Murage and Workforce Development Job Developer Alethia Bush.

Also in the program, we explore options for changing Pennsylvania's expungement laws and the EPA takes steps to finalize a carbon pollution standard.
